Werder Bremen midfielder Torsten Frings has apologised to Germany boss Joachim Low following his public outburst at being dropped.

Frings had vented his frustration to the press after being dropped from the starting XI for the recent World Cup qualifiers against Russia and Wales.

But a clear-the-air meeting with Low in Berlin on Tuesday would appear to have resolved the problem between the two and he now looks likely to be in the Germany squad to face England on 19th November.

Frings, who has won 78 caps for his country, said in a German FA statement: "I know that I can't expect any special treatment as a result of any success or performances in the past.

Extremely disappointed

"I can only repeat that I was extremely disappointed at only getting a few minutes on the pitch during the last two World Cup qualifiers.

"It was a new and difficult situation for me and in a first reaction I used one or two words that I now regret.

"I will battle for my place in the national team, don't expect any guarantees and will do my best to win my place through good performances."

He added: "It is still something very special for me to play for my country."
