Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese has again reiterated his desire to extend his contract at the club and spurn any potential moves abroad.

The 29-year-old has firmly established himself as the club's No.1 since moving from Kaiserslautern in 2005.

The Germany international, who has six caps to date, has just a year left on his current contract at the Weserstadion and had been linked with a move abroad.

Wiese admits such a move would be tempting but stressed he would rather extend his stay in Germany.

"I am just 29 years of age and this is clearly the best age for goalkeepers," Wiese told Kicker-Sportmagazin.

"Playing in a different country for another club would be tempting of course, but just if it does not work out with Werder Bremen.

"We are successful, it is just a joy to play for Werder Bremen."

Die Werderaner had earlier indicated they would not be offering Wiese at new deal, with finances tight following their failure to qualify for this season's Champions League.

However, general manager Klaus Allofs has revealed the club may have changed their stance, saying: "Tim Wiese has an outrunning contract; he is a first-team regular and in the Germany squad. We will certainly talk to each other about a new deal."
