Graziano Pelle scored a brace as AZ Alkmaar beat Groningen 3-0 at home to continue their relentless push towards the Eredivisie title.

Pelle scored in the third and 57th minutes before Moussa Dembele added a third six minutes from time to seal the victory.

Louis van Gaal's side are now 12 points clear at the top - having played a game more than second-placed FC Twente - while Groningen stay in sixth.

NAC Breda jumped up to seventh thanks to a 3-1 home victory over Sparta Rotterdam, who dropped down to 14th in the table.

Nourdin Boukhari put the home side in front in the 17th minute, before Ruud Knol equalised four minutes later. But NAC sealed the win via two late goals from Rob Pender (77) and Csaba Feher (90).

Heracles climbed three places to 12th with a comprehensive 3-0 away win at Willem II, whom they leapfrogged in the table.

Brazilian striker Everton scored a quick-fire brace (50, 53) before Ricky van den Bergh made sure of the victory with a 90th minute penalty.

Third-from-bottom Roda JC ended a four match losing run with a 3-1 home win over fellow strugglers De Graafschap - whom they opened a four-point gap upon.

Kris De Wree gave the home side the lead in the seventh minute before Ben Sahar equalised a minute after the interval.

But Andres Oper restored Roda's advantage on 54 minutes and Marcel De Jong then made sure of the win with four minutes remaining.
