Ajax won the Johan Cruyff Trophy for the third successive year, courtesy of a 1-0 victory over rivals PSV Eindhoven.

The trophy pits the Dutch league champion against the cup winner and this year was settled by Gabri's winner just before half-time.

Following an interchange with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Gabri fired home from close range.

Ajax were the better of the two sides but Huntelaar fired wide in the 62nd minute, before debutante Dennis Rommedahl hit the post in the 75th.

Chances were very much at a premium in what was a below par PSV display.
