Ajax defender Urby Emanuelson has admitted he would be interested in a move to Roma.

The highly-rated left-back has been strongly linked with a switch to Italy since the summer, when Roma were reportedly keen to pay eight million euros (£5.6million) for his services.

Ajax were not prepared to let Emanuelson go after losing Ryan Babel to Liverpool and Wesley Sneijder to Real Madrid.

But Roma are still understood to be monitoring Emanuelson and the player concedes it would be difficult to reject an offer in the January transfer market.

"It doesn't surprise me that they report themselves again," Emanuelson told De Telegraaf.

"Roma are beautiful club who I would definitely like to play for.

"It is only a question of whether I would be ready to go to Italy in the winter break."
