Ajax starlet Christian Eriksen says he wants to become more dominant in midfield and up his goal contribution as he bids to improve this season.

The 19-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Premier League over the last two transfer windows, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Amsterdam last term.

He has featured regularly for reigning Eredivisie champions Ajax so far this season, scoring once in the 4-1 thrashing of Vitesse.

Despite being rated as one of Europe's hottest young prospects, the Denmark international feels there is plenty of room for improvement in his game.

"I think I should be more dominant in the field," he told Voetbal International. "That's part of my position and my qualities.

"And I still don't score enough."

"I'm not a kid anymore. I realise that I need to grow. In modern football midfielders are in great demand."

Eriksen took lessons from Ajax's UEFA Champions League opener against Lyon earlier this month.

He added: "At the highest stage, I still find that I'm missing some things in my game.

"That's not so strange at my age but I am critical of myself."
