Excelsior's Eredivisie match at home to NAC Breda was abandoned after just five minutes on Monday night due to heavy fog.

The game, which had originally been due to take place on Saturday only to be postponed because of snow, was goalless when play was stopped.

A statement on Excelsior's official website read: "Three minutes before the game, the Woudestein Stadium suddenly became very foggy.

"Referee (Jeroen) Sanders decided to start it anyway but after five minutes saw it was useless to continue playing."
