Samir Nasri will miss Marseille's UEFA Champions League tie with Liverpool due to a virus.

The highly-rated playmaker was hospitalised over the weekend and the club say he is suffering from a meningitis-type flu.

The France international is unlikely to leave hospital for another few days and is expected to require at least two weeks' rehabilitation.

It means Nasri, who has been strongly linked with a move to Internazionale, will be absent for next week's trip to Anfield.

Marseille will head to Liverpool for next Wednesday's game as the early Group A leaders after a 2-0 win over Besiktas in their opening match.
