Ronaldo: Victim of laser
Manchester United have called on Uefa to investigate a laser beam incident involving Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portugal international was targeted during the warm-up and the first half of United's 1-1 UEFA Champions League draw with Lyon.
Ronaldo showed no ill effects after the incident, and went on to play the full 90 minutes for his club.
But Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the matter has been reported to Uefa.
"We reported the matter to Uefa before the game," Ferguson said.
"We noticed it in the warm-up and they (Uefa) are aware of it."
Uefa will review the match delegate's report before deciding if any further action will be taken.
A spokesman said: "We are waiting for the delegate's report from (Wednesday) night.
"We need to get that first before we do anything. So it's too early to say whether there's action taken.
"Once we have seen and reviewed that (we will decide) whether we open an investigation."
United fell behind during the clash at the Stade Gerland, with Karim Benzema putting Lyon ahead on 54 minutes.
However, Carlos Tevez - on as a second-half substitute - struck an invaluable away goal with just three minutes remaining.
And Lyon coach Alain Perrin believes his side let themselves down after losing concentration in the dying moments of the encounter.
"I felt that 1-0 was a good score but 1-1 is a different story," he said.
"It was a shame to concede a goal in the dying moments of the game but we showed what we are capable of and caused United problems.
"But the way things stand at the moment we are out of the competition, and it was a strange goal we conceded and we have let ourselves down."
