Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger fears Liverpool striker Fernando Torres could be the man who ends his side's UEFA Champions League dreams.

The Gunners have been drawn against the Reds in the quarter-finals of Europe's premier club competition and Wenger recognises the threat posed by Torres.

The Spanish striker has hit 26 goals in 35 games in all competitions in his first season in England and Wenger acknowledges he will be the man to stop when Arsenal welcome Liverpool to Emirates Stadium on 2nd April before travelling to Anfield one week later.

"Torres goes through a good spell, you know," Wenger said in the Daily Star.

Brave

"He had, as well, indifferent ones at the start but now he has adapted very quickly because he is quick, strong and brave.

"That's the kind of competition you want to keep quiet in the Champions League, as away from home he is quick.

"You do not want to give him any counter-attacking chances. He and Steven Gerrard are so sharp on the break."

Liverpool and Arsenal also due to meet in the Premier League on 5th April meaning the two sides will face each three times in one week.
