Didier Drogba was ecstatic after firing Chelsea into their first UEFA Champions League final.

The Ivory Coast international bagged a brace in the Blues' 3-2 extra-time win over Liverpool in the second leg of their semi-final encounter, to hand Chelsea a 4-3 aggregate win.

His double ensured that Avram Grant's men will now meet Manchester United in a Moscow showdown on 21st May.

The Blues have fallen at the last four stage on three previous occasions, and Drogba admitted that he was delighted to be able to banish the painful memories of the past.

Amazing

"It is something amazing," he told Sky Sports .

"I think today we played very well - I am really pleased for the club because we have been looking for this final for too long.

"Today what we achieved is fantastic for the fans."

Drogba had been accused of diving in the build up to the game by Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, and while refusing to get drawn into a war of words with the Spaniard, Drogba admitted that he was disappointed to be at the centre of such allegations.

"It is difficult, as I said, Benitez is a fantastic coach one of the best in the world and I was a little disappointed but perhaps he thought his team wasn't strong enough," he said.

"I don't want to look after what people were saying.

"It is very personal and not good. Football is not always about critics.

"It does nothing for my image and I am doing everything to promote English football, and it is not good and not fair but it is finished now."
