Matt Derbyshire has told skysports.com of his disappointment at missing Olympiakos' UEFA Champions League clash with Arsenal.

The former Blackburn Rovers star has been ruled out of the trip to Emirates Stadium through injury in what would have been his first game back in England since his summer departure from Ewood Park.

Derbyshire is currently in Belgium undergoing rehabilitation following a hernia operation in the summer and he is ruing the fact he will not be able to help his team-mates when they lock horns with Arsenal on Tuesday night.

"I am gutted, very gutted to miss the game," Derbyshire told skysports.com. "It is one of those things I am injured and I just have to deal with it.

"I am in Belgium seeing a specialist after my hernia operation and it is about restoring the core strength.

"The doctor is one of the best specialists in the world and things have gone brilliantly so far and I can feel a big improvement.

"I hope to be back in training in three or four weeks and I can't wait as it difficult for any footballer not to be playing."

Positive

Derbyshire claims the mood is positive in the Olympiakos camp that they can get a positive result from their trip to North London.

"The mood is the camp is okay and if we keep playing the way we have been we can get a good result," added Derbyshire.

"It will be a high-tempo game and we will have to go out there and tackle hard. We can't let them settle and let them play as they can destroy teams.

"We will need to upset their rhythm and we will also need a bit of luck to get a good result.

"I am disappointed to miss this game, but I am determined I will be available when Arsenal come to Greece and that will be a great game to be involved in."
