AC Milan boss Leonardo has welcomed the news that David Beckham is returning to the club.

The Italian giants have announced that they have struck a deal with Beckham and his club Los Angeles Galaxy that will see him return to the San Siro.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after Milan's Champions League draw with Real Madrid on Tuesday, Leonardo was happy with the Beckham news.

"It is done and we are really happy, he played here not just as a player but a man - he was really important and AC Milan is very happy he is back," he told Sky Sports News.

"His charisma, and his talent - he is different to what we have and what he represents is something very important - if you have a player like that you are better - he is a complete personality and is very positive."

No Leo criticism

Milan could have easily won the game against Real had Alexandre Pato not had a goal controversially disallowed for handball - but Leonardo refused to criticise the referee Felix Brych.

"These things happen. I always believe in the good intentions of the referee," he continued.

"It seemed to me it was a normal goal while for the penalty you could say that it was right to give it.

"We are getting better, each game we improve a bit."
