Quotes of the week
Rangers manager Walter Smith believes Zenit St Petersburg are the favourites for Wednesday's Uefa Cup final.
While the Russian outfit put Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich to the sword (4-0) in the second leg of their semi-final, Rangers needed penalties to see off Fiorentina.
Smith knows Bayern are one of Europe's premier sides and having been so convincingly beaten in the semis, firmly believes Zenit will be favourites at the City of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday.
"Their 1-1 draw in Munich was terrific, the 4-0 win at home was exceptional and was probably one of the best results in European competition this season," said Smith.
"That is the measure of Zenit and how highly I regard them. For Zenit to beat them (Bayern) in that manner makes them favourites... it will be a very tough night for us."
Meanwhile, Smith has confirmed midfielder Kevin Thomson will undergo a fitness test on Tuesday evening on a foot injury.
Thomson will be getting a run out at the ground before either being given the thumbs up or down from the club's medical staff on whether he will be available for Smith on Wednesday.
"Kevin Thomson has a foot injury. He'll have a fitness test this evening," he continued.
"We're hopeful he'll make it okay. At this stage he's a doubt. We do have hopes he'll make it."
