Spartak Moscow did themselves and Tottenham a favour with a 1-0 Uefa Cup win at Dinamo Zagreb.

The Russians collected their first victory in Group D thanks to a 75th-minute goal from Ivan Saenko.

The Russian international fired a right footed shot into the bottom corner of the net to deal Zagreb's qualification hopes a blow.

Spartak, who are still to visit White Hart Lane in Tottenham's final game, will now hope to finish above Dinamo and NEC Nijmegen to claim third place in the group and a place in the knockout stages.
