Adriano Galliani says AC Milan will decide in January about whether to include David Beckham in the club's Uefa Cup squad.

Beckham was presented as Milan's new loan signing over the weekend, with the midfielder joining the Italian giants from LA Galaxy.

The former England captain is due to finish his spell at the San Siro on 9th March, which means he would only be eligible for the Uefa Cup last 32 tie against Werder Bremen in February.

Milan's vice-president Galliani confirmed Beckham's fitness is good and will not rush into a decision regarding his involvement in Europe.

"Beckham is in good physical condition," said Galliani. "He will be here with us for nine Serie A games and will also play some friendlies.

"We will then consider whether to include him or not in our Uefa Cup squad because eventually he would only be able to play up to the first and second leg of the last 16 of the competition.

"We will make this decision by the end of January."

Beckham attended Milan's 5-1 win over Udinese on Sunday and his new team-mate Kaka is confident the midfielder will be a good addition to the squad.

Kaka told Sky Sports: "We saw him today and he's here for us. It's very nice to have Beckham for the next two months, he will help us a lot."

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is also expecting Beckham to be a useful recruit, with the 33-year-old in contention to make his debut against Roma on 11th January.

Ancelotti said: "Certainly there is a place for him because he is a great player.

"He is very well prepared tactically and he can give a contribution to this team.

"He is in good condition and if he is one of the 11 names on the team sheet, then it is because he deserves to be there."
