Motherwell chairman John Boyle insists the club will not be rushed into appointing a new manager.

The Scottish Premier League outfit are in the market for a new coach following Mark McGhee's decision to join Aberdeen.

A number of candidates, including Steve Staunton, Gary McAllister and Lawrie Sanchez, have been linked with the post but as yet no appointment has been made.

Boyle has refused to comment on those reported to be in the running for the job, but has admitted that the calibre of candidate has delighted him.

He is now hoping to get the right man in place over the next few weeks, preferably before Motherwell take on Welsh outfit Llanelli in the first qualifying round of the Europa League on 2nd July.

"We are interviewing many candidates over the next week or so, so there is hope. It is possible," Boyle told Sky Sports News.

"But we're not rushing anything and it will be done in a timely basis.

"We are very delighted with the calibre of candidate that has come along and we are going to do it in an orderly fashion.

Ongoing

"As soon as we make a choice we will announce it, but we're not going to rush. It's ongoing as we speak.

He added: "I'm not going to comment on who we have spoken to and who we haven't spoken to, all that will do is cause undue speculation.

"We are dealing with a wide range of candidates and as soon as we find a replacement for Mark McGhee we will let people know."

Boyle also spoke of his relief at being handed a tie against Llanelli in the first stage of their European adventure.

"We're very delighted," he said.

"The options were to perhaps go to Azerbaijan or Armenia, which would have given us a huge logistical problem to deal with, so the shorter journey to Wales is considerably better and will suit the Welsh team as well.

"The players are only just back from a short summer break and it wouldn't have helped their preparation if we had had to travel that far. Purely from a logistical point of view we are delighted with the draw."
