While one Turkish giant eased through, another, Galatasaray, bowed out as they lost to Ukrainian side Karpaty Lviv on away goals.

Galatasaray, who won the Uefa Cup in 2000, looked on course to go through as Aydin Yilmaz scored a minute into injury time to make it 1-0, 3-2 on aggregate.

But just a couple of minutes later, Karpaty managed to level through Artem Fedeskiy, which sent Galatasaray crashing out.

Juventus moved into the group stages as they claimed a 1-0 win over Sturm Graz, giving them a 3-1 aggregate win.

Swiss side Lausanne produced a shock as they knocked out Russia's Lokomotiv Moscow on penalties.

The first leg ended 1-1, and Lokomotiv were firm favourites to progress but it was Lausanne who took the lead as Silvio fired them ahead.

Lokomotiv needed an Olexandr Aliyev goal five minutes from time to take the game into extra time.

No goals followed in added time and it was Lausanne who won 4-3 on penalties, with substitute Maicon missing the crucial kick.

French outfit Lille sealed a 2-0 win over Vaslui to book their place in the next round.

The Romanians held a 1-0 advantage but that was not enough as Veroljub Salatic fired home for Grasshoppers.

No goals came in added time, and the match went to penalties, with the decisive kick being missed by substitute Endogan Adili.

Hungarians Debrecen cruised into the group stage as they beat Litex Lovech 2-1 in Bulgaria, giving them a 4-1 aggregate success.

Yannick Mbengono set Debrecen on their way before Wilfried Niflore levelled but the visitors secured victory on the night as Peter Czvitkovics fired home.

While Litex bowed out, there was better luck for their compatriots, Levski Sofia, who knocked out AIK Solna.

The first leg in Sweden ended goalless, and AIK were on course to progress as Mohamed Bangura's goal gave them a half-time lead.

But Levski battled back to seal the win as two goals in two minutes from Daniel Mladenov and Garra Dembele secured them their passage.

Lech Poznan will line up in the group stages after they held Dnipro to a goalless draw in Poland, which gave them a 1-0 aggregate win.
