Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven survived their first-leg scare against Russians Sibir Novosibirsk as they comfortably booked their place in the Europa League group stages.

The European heavyweights lost 1-0 in Russia last week, but there was no mistake this time around as they sealed a 5-0 win at the Philips Stadion.

Marcus Berg scored to make sure the aggregate scores were level at the break, after which PSV took control with Orlando Engelaar and Ola Toivonen extending their lead before Hungarian Balazs Dzsudzsak grabbed a brace.

Welsh side The New Saints produced a tremendous performance as they drew 2-2 with CSKA Sofia, losing 5-2 on aggregate.

Giuseppe Aquaro gave CSKA the lead after 10 minutes but TNS - playing at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground - levelled not long after through Matthew Williams.

On the hour the home fans went wild as Steve Evans struck but they were denied the victory on the night as Christian Tiboni levelled with 10 minutes left.

Stuttgart survived a huge shock at the VFB Arena as they claimed a 2-2 draw which gave them a 3-2 aggregate success against Slovan Bratislava.

The minnows threatened a shock as they took the lead after five minutes through Lucky Idahor, and they held that lead until just after half-time when Artuo Vidal scored from the penalty spot.

An own-goal from Denys Golaydo put Bayer ahead on 74 minutes before a last-minute goal from Gonzalo Castro sealed their passage.

Italians Palermo lost 3-2 to Slovenians Maribor but progressed to the group stages 5-3 on aggregate.

Marcos put Maribor ahead just 14 minutes in and the home side smelt an upset as Josip Ilicic made it 2-0 on the hour.

Palermo nerves were calmed as Abel Hernandez grabbed a quick-fire brace to level the match.

Maribor managed to win on the night as Sinisa Andjelkovic scored in the final minute.

Porto eased into the group phase with a 7-2 aggregate win over Genk after a 4-2 victory at the Estadio do Dragao.

The hero for the home side was Hulk as he grabbed a hat-trick, which came after Genk had taken the lead through Jelle Vossen.

Hulk levelled and Fernando made it 3-1 before Vossen pulled another back for the Belgian visitors.

Hulk then scored a penalty on the hour mark before completing his treble just moments later.

Metalist Kharkiv came from behind to draw 2-2 and seal a 3-2 aggregate win over Cypriot outfit Omonia Nicosia.

Omonia were 1-0 down going into the first-leg, but they found themselves 2-0 up as Leandro and Hernan Rengifo scored.

But Ukrainian side Metalist battled back and secured their place in the group stages thanks to goals from Marko Devic and Cleiton Xavier.

Croatian giants Hadjuk Split are into the group stages after a 5-2 aggregate win over Unirea Urziceni.

Hadjuk had been leading 4-1 from the first leg but Unirea made a great start, taking the lead through Marius Bilasco after two minutes.

But the Romanians could not find another goal and Hadjuk sealed a draw on the night as Ante Vukusic levelled with just a minute remaining.

Belarusians BATE Borisov are into the next round after a 5-1 aggregate win over Portugal's Maritimo.

With a 3-0 lead in hand, BATE took control of the tie as they took the lead in the second leg just after half-time when Aleksandr Pavlov scored.

Kanu briefly had Maritimo level but Maksim Skavysh scored to seal a 2-1 win for BATE.
