France's Euro 2008 qualifier with the Faroe Islands could be postponed after Les Bleus were unable to reach their destination because of fog and high winds.

L'Equipe's website reported that the plane carrying the World Cup runners-up was forced to head to Bergen in Norway after twice circling the Faroes but being unable to land.

The Turkish refereeing team is reportedly stranded in Copenhagen while the UEFA delegate is in Iceland.

According to L'Equipe, French team officials were considering a formal request to postpone the match, which could be played on Sunday if the players and officials manage to complete their journeys.

Raymond Domenech's party had to stop twice - at Aberdeen and Bergen - because of the bad conditions and spent 10 hours in airports or on board planes. Another possibility is a five-hour ferry journey from Bergen to the Faroes.

Uefa rules require the team to arrive the night before the game while if the game were to be played on Sunday then it would give both France and the Faroes less recovery time for their midweek fixtures.
