Denisov: Withdraws from squad
Igor Denisov will not play for Russia at Euro 2008 this summer after rejecting the chance to link up with the squad.
The Zenit St Petersburg ace bizarrely turned down the opportunity to join Guus Hiddink's provisional 25-man squad for this summer's tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
The news is a blow for Russia fans who had hoped the in-form midfielder would feature at Euro 2008.
Hiddink had little to say about the 24-year-old, who scored in Zenit's Uefa Cup final win over Rangers, saying: "It's his choice."
However, former Holland coach Hiddink confirmed Denisov is still available for their 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.
