Poland manager Leo Beenhakker admits his side were not good enough after crashing out of the Euro 2008 group stages.

Beenhakker's side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Croatia in Klagenfurt on Monday to condemn them to an early exit following a 2-0 loss to Germany and a controversial draw with Austria in Group B.

And former Holland, Saudi Arabia and Trinidad & Tobago boss Beenhakker, who has still to win a match at the finals of an international tournament, confesses his team did not produce the necessary standards this summer.

Poland finished above Portugal in qualifying for Euro 2008 and Beenhakker was expecting more in Austria and Switzerland.

Disappointment

"Everyone is very disappointed as we had ambition to do better," said Beenhakker.

"That was a realistic thing because we showed in most of the qualifying matches that we can do much better.

"But during this tournament we were not good enough. We have to see what everybody knows, that several important players were not in the best shape, not in top form.

"The players who gave us something extra in qualifying, it wasn't happening here."
