Ribery: Knee and ankle injuries
France winger Franck Ribery suffered injuries to his left ankle and knee after falling awkwardly in the 2-0 defeat to Italy on Tuesday evening.
Ribery was forced to leave the field on a stretcher after landing painfully when challenging Gianluca Zambrotta for the ball.
France coach Raymond Domenech has confirmed that the Bayern Munich ace sustained a 'nasty sprain' while the full extent of the knee injury has yet to be determined.
"He has a nasty ankle sprain," Domenech told a news conference. "As for the knee, we're not quite sure yet how serious the injury is. Further checks are needed.
"He's walking on crutches; he can't put his foot down."
Ribery's injury set the tone for a torrid night for the French as they departed Euro 2008 at the group stages.
