Sammer: Czech link
The Czech Football Federation has confirmed that they have targeted Matthias Sammer as a possible successor to Karel Bruckner.
The 40-year-old former European Player of the Year only recently signed a long-term contract extension for his current job as German Football Federation director of sport.
But Czech Football Federation vice-president Vlastimil Kostal has told German media that he has already contacted Sammer.
Bruckner announced prior to Euro 2008 that he was to step down following the tournament and, after the Czech Republic crashed out of the group stages, the search has begun for a new boss.
Sammer, who has coached Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart, recently turned down the chance to take over at Galatasaray saying that he would prefer to work at international level rather than return to club football.
