The Italian Football Federation has yet to make a decision on the future of national team manager Roberto Donadoni.

Italy crashed out of the Euro 2008 quarter-finals to Spain on penalties on Sunday to bring to an end a disappointing campaign for Donadoni's side, who never truly found top form.

And the president of the Italian Football Federation, Giancarlo Abete, has now revealed that he is set for showdown talks with Donadoni to discuss the world champions' failure.

Donadoni - who took over from Marcello Lippi after the 2006 World Cup victory - signed a two-year contract extension just before the European Championship, but an escape clause allows the coach, or the Federation, to terminate the deal.

"We will reflect on what has happened," Abete told the Italian media.

"Not right now, but after the game we will assess the Euro campaign and decide what will happen.

"We will have a meeting with Donadoni in the next few days, but it is clear as a Federation that we must plan for the future and keep a certain type of balance.

"We are aware that our overall capacity and skills have certainly not reached the level expected."
