Hickersberger: Moving on
Josef Hickersberger has resigned as manager of Austria after his side failed to progress beyond the group stages of Euro 2008.
The Austrian Football Federation was due to decide on Hickersberger's future on Wednesday, but the 60-year-old has decided to step down.
Austria qualified for the European Championship as co-hosts, but they failed to progress from Group B.
Hickersberger's side suffered defeat in their opening game to Croatia before drawing with Poland and losing their decisive match to semi-finalists Germany.
Austria will now begin their search for a new boss as they prepare for the first match of World Cup 2010 qualifying against France in September.
