Hiddink: Looking for final spot
Guus Hiddink is hoping Russia can maintain their upward curve in Thursday's rematch with Spain in the Euro 2008 semi-finals.
Russia were crushed 4-1 by their opponents in their opening group match, but have improved with every subsequent performance.
After beating holders Greece and Sweden to reach the quarter-finals, Russia delivered a superb display to overcome Holland 3-1 in the last eight.
Hiddink's side now face Spain in Vienna on Thursday and the Dutchman has warned his players not to repeat their opening game showing.
"If we play as we did before we don't even have to start this game," said Hiddink. "We may as well hand over our wallets to Spain.
"We have tried, of course, to improve. The team has learnt a lot in a very short time. We hope to continue that.
"That's always the question if the team with not as much experience can continue.
"It's always the advantage of more experienced teams like Spain, they are used to playing tough matches every four or five days."
Ivan Saenko is doubtful for the match due to an ankle injury and Hiddink will decide on the midfielder's fitness on Wednesday.
He added: "He's still got a little bit of a problem, but we will see tomorrow if he can participate."
