Aragones: Emotional exit
Luis Aragones feels it would have been impossible not to win Euro 2008 because Spain have the 'best team in the world'.
Spain lifted their first piece of silverware since the 1964 European Championship as they defeated Germany in the final of Euro 2008 on Sunday.
And Aragones, who is now to step down as Spain boss, believes all that was necessary to secure success was to find the correct managerial approach.
In their 44-year trophy drought, Spain were consistently cast as underachievers but Aragones insists he had no doubts in Austria and Switzerland this summer.
"If I couldn't manage the quality of players that we have here, then it would be impossible to win the Euro," said Aragones as Spain paraded the European Championship trophy upon their return to Madrid on Tuesday.
"Why? Because we have the best team in the world."
Aragones announced prior to this summer's finals that he was to conclude his four-year tenure as Spain boss at the end of his side's participation.
The 69-year-old has ignored pleas from players to continue, but he confesses he has found it an emotional time.
"I'm a man who doesn't show great emotions," added Aragones. "But listening to the players, I'm feeling emotional today."
