Hartlepool boss Chris Turner says he is hopeful of agreeing a deal for Norwegian winger Jon Andre-Fredriksen.

Turner has expressed an interest in the talented player having watched him on numerous occasions during a scouting tour of Norway.

Fredriksen, who currently plays for Sarpsborg, is said to be in negotiations with the club over a possible move.

Waiting on international clearance, Turner admits he is hopeful of concluding a deal by the end of the week.

Competition

"Jon-Andre is a very energetic player and could provide us with some good competition down the left side so we're interested," he told the club's official website.

"We need somebody on that side to challenge Andy Monkhouse following Matty Robson's decision to leave so it's an area I've been looking at for a while."

He added: "I've been out to Norway a number of times in the last few months to watch games in the top two divisions over there just to get a feel for the players and the level.

"I've also been to the Republic of Ireland and Scotland so it's been a busy three or four months but I think it's important we see if there are opportunities in these countries."

Hoping to tie up a deal in the not-too-distant future, he said: "As soon as any transfer is complete we will confirm it.

"When it's a done deal, it's a done deal."
