England Saxons fly-half Ryan Lamb says this is the season that England can return to winning ways in the Six Nations.

The Gloucester fly-half will be representing the Saxons against Ireland A on Friday night, live on Sky Sports, but will tune in to watch the senior team take on Wales and Saturday in a competition he thinks they have the talent to win.

England haven't won a Six Nations title since the 2003 Grand Slam that preceded World Cup success in Australia but asked if this is the season that England get back on track in the Six Nations, Lamb thinks it is.?

"Yes, I think it is," he told skysports.com.

"Everyone doubted them and they proved everyone wrong (at the World Cup). Now if they come out again and put in a big performance in the Six Nations, then everyone will be talking about them being one of the best teams in the world again.

"The players have the credentials to do that. It will be interesting to see what happens in this Six Nations, with France, Wales and Ireland at the moment, I think it is going to be a very interesting competition."

One of the key players in England's line-up, according to Lamb, is his Gloucester team-mate, centre Mike Tindall, whose form and experience the young fly-half says is invaluable.

He said: "At the moment he is playing some fantastic rugby. He is a big strong ball-carrier and he has a great kicking game as well, so he is great to have on the outside of you, trying to take a bit of pressure off you.

"That will be massive for the young guys to have people like that around them. It will be fantastic for their development.

"He has a mass of experience; that is the thing about Mike, so even if he is having a bit of an off-day he is such a great bloke to have around the squad. He can talk, he knows how the game is going and he has been great for us young guys."

Based on this season's form, there are some that say Lamb should be in the full England squad but he is happy to be patient and wait for his chance, relishing any opportunity to wear an England shirt.

"To be honest I am just happy to be in any kind of set-up," he said. "There are some good fly-halves out there at the moment with quite a lot of young lads and some more experienced lads, like Jonny (Wilkinson) and Charlie (Hodgson), who you have got to pick.

"You can't be disappointed and think you should have been selected. Just to be involved in the set-up is fantastic and I am looking forward to playing against Ireland, showing them what I can do and hopefully I can make the step up.

"I am comfortable playing with the Saxons, we have a fantastic squad here too and any of us could get dragged up to the first team.

"It would be an honour to be called up but I am just concentrating on what I am doing for my club at the moment and hopefully it will come later on."
