Demichelis: Back in the fold
Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has confirmed Martin Demichelis has been restored to his first-team squad.
Demichelis was axed by Hitzfeld for refusing to play in a defensive midfield role for the club, as he preferred to be utilised in defence.
However, Demichelis has now apologised for his outburst, which he has played down, meaning Hitzfeld has drawn a line under the matter.
"He apologised," stated Hitzfeld. "That's the end of the story."
However, the former River Plate man remains in the dark as to why he was dropped as he felt he was simply having a civilised conversation with his manager.
"I thought I would tell him after training (on Friday) what my thoughts were," he told Kicker.
"It should be possible for a player to talk to his coach like that. But then I found out I'd been suspended. That made me sad.
"The coach is right when he says players can't pick and choose where they play. But I have my opinion and hope he respects it. I'm a defender."
Meanwhile, it seems Hitzfeld has yet to calm down from last weekend's surprise 2-0 Bundesliga defeat to Energie Cottbus.
"We lost every single tackle in the first ten minutes and I knew it was going to be a difficult game," he told the club's official website.
"We were terrible and did just about everything wrong that you could possibly do.
"Cottbus played well above their usual standard, but only because our undisciplined attitude allowed them to."
