Joaquin Botero scored a brace to help Bolivia to a 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Peru on Saturday.

The forward scored the opener on four minutes with a simple tap-in after Marcelo Martins burst into the area and chipped the ball over keeper Leao Butron.

Martins also set up the second in the 16th minute when he broke away from the Peru defence and left Botero with the simple task of heading in from close range.

Midfielder Ronald Garcia then completed the scoring in the 81st minute to hand Boliva a second win of the campaign and lift them off the bottom of the 10-team South American group and dump Peru in their place.

The brace helped Botero become his country's highest scorer with 17 goals, one more than the previous record held by Victor Ugarte who played during the 1960s.
