Owen Coyle is still hopeful of landing Fernando Guerrero despite a delay in transfer proceedings.

The 19-year-old impressed for the Clarets on their recent tour to America and Coyle was keen to push through a permanent deal for the talented teenager.

Guerrero has, however, been forced to return to Ecuadorian outfit Independiente del Valle as his proposed move to Turf Moor is put on hold.

The president of Independiente is currently away on holiday and talks cannot be completed until he returns.

Coyle has been quick to point out that an agreement is far from certain, but he has admitted that he is keen to strike an accord.

"We've had a chat, but as it is, the president is out of the country," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"But when he gets back to us we'll know what the situation is in terms of what finance is involved in the deal, and we'll take it from there.

"He's an entertaining player and a young lad with a chance.

"There's been a bit of dialogue but we need to continue that. But that's all it is at this moment in time."
