Deco: Keen to move on
Ideally, I'd like to go after the World Cup and I've been talking to Chelsea about it.
Deco seeks Chelsea exit
Quotes of the week
Deco has revealed that he hopes to quit Chelsea after this summer's World Cup finals and head back to his native Brazil.
The 32-year-old playmaker joined the Blues from Barcelona in 2008, penning a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge.
However, he has struggled to hold down first-team football during his time in England and has not been a regular under Carlo Ancelotti this term.
He has started just 10 Premier League games this season and feels the time is right to move on.
Deco, who represents Portugal at international level but was born and raised in Sao Paulo, admits a return to his South American roots would be his preference.
"I want to go back to Brazil," he said in The Sun.
"I still have a couple of good years of high-level football in me but I want to be near my kids."
He added: "Ideally, I'd like to go after the World Cup and I've been talking to Chelsea about it."
Deco, having failed to make the grade in his homeland as a teenager, has enjoyed a glittering career in Europe.
He was part of the Porto side which dominated at home and abroad under Jose Mourinho and tasted further UEFA Champions League success during his time at Camp Nou.
He could yet play a major role in helping Chelsea to domestic and European glory this season and hopes he will be given the all-clear to find a new club should the Blues end the campaign with an enviable collection of winners' medals.
He said: "It will all depend on Chelsea - if the club release me or let me go on loan."

So, this is yet another blow to CFC? Actually, I think it is a blessing in disguise. He has been in semi retirement since joining them and very rarely shown any of the skills he is known for. Always thought he was there just to wind down a bit before moving on. Never prepared to work hard. Deco who? Adios Amigo..............

John Nolan (Chelsea fan) says...
Deco has done good things in the past - but he is past it now - like many of Abramovich's signings over the last 3 years. It is no good telling every new manager through the revolving door to say 'I don't need any new players' and then sacking them when the results don't follow. Until Abramovich starts to think big again the club will remain trophy-less and unable to match the Mourinho years.

Adam Rivett (Chelsea fan) says...
If he left, I don't think we would miss him that much. It's not like he's set the world alight at Chelsea is it? If I were Chelsea, I'd release him and get him off the wage bill.
