Tottenham have confirmed that a deal has been agreed to bring in Sandro from Internacional this summer.
The Brazilian club's president Vitorio Piffero revealed last week that an agreement was close after lengthy negotiations between the two parties.
Internacional then announced on their official website on Tuesday morning that everything was in place for the midfielder to join Spurs.
Tottenham have also confirmed the move, subject to Sandro passing a medical, and manager Harry Redknapp is excited about the prospect of having the player on board for next season.
"It would be fantastic," said Redknapp. "The chairman has been dealing with it. I got a phone call this morning from the chairman saying that he thought we were close to doing it.
"Hopefully it will get done now and it will be a good signing.
"He is an outstanding young player. He is on the verge of the Brazilian team.
"He has already played for Brazil and captained the Under-18s, 19s and 21s.
"He is strong. He looks a very, very good player so I am looking forward to getting him here."
Sandro will remain at Inter until the end of the Copa Libertadores, which finishes in August.
Spurs have been chasing Sandro, who has been capped once by Brazil, since last summer and also came close to signing him in the January transfer window.

dont think wilson palacios will be going anywhere - havent heard he wants a dream move to real? not sure where this story is from - wilson is why we are so strong - great player we need to keep . also jenas is worth keeping he scores important goals . keano and bentley should make way . coys .

Some funny comments here! Simon's signing Steven Gerrard if we get 4th and Michael Butler descibes Huddlestone as having "major pace", neither with a hint of irony or sarcasm! Awesome.

Any new signing like this is progress, and helps support the ever improving squad HR is building for us. I've heard JJ is selling his house, so maybe he knows his days at the lane are coming to an end and that he'll return to the North - maybe to Sunderland where most of the spurs players migrate to.

I agree with everyone that Sandro looks like he could be a good signing. He's young, Brazilian, and has a good reputation with huge potential. However, for those of you who continually destroy JJ, you have no idea what you're talking about. He has consistently been our top-goalscoring midfielder and been a regular in the England squads! No lower premier leaue players can achieve this, and whilst I don't think he should be in our starting line-up, he is a great player to have standing by in case of injuries and suspensions. We need to start supporting all of our players at Spurs, I get fed up of listening to fans in the crowd getting on our own players' backs. We're supposed to be fans!!

I am happy with a good strong midfield signing, I am also a major fan of Tommy H and Wilson and am not so keen on JJ (He is the example of Spurs pre Harry.....consistantly inconsistant!!) But Michael Butler, to say Hudd has "Major Pace" is ridiculas as that is his major flaw, if he gets caught on the wrong side of the ball he struggles to chase back into position, this is why many feel he will end up as a football playing centre back.....but as I say Im a huge fan and think Tom signing a new 5 yr deal is just as inportant as any new midfield signing!! COYS

This would be a good signing for Spurs, JJ is totally useless, shift him on - then sign 2 more decent defenders - 1 decent midfield ball winner - shift Keane on - get Torres if he decides to leave Liverpool or an out and out proven striker and WE WILL be in Europe next season for sure, as we have a decent manager in Harry, and a nearly decent squad.

Orcun Basar (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...
JJ on his day can be very good, and he passes well and creates good opportunities and even scores occasionally. However, VERY INCONSISTENT! And he has caused us to concede goals on a number of occasions because he goes on a run, loses the ball in very silly, avoidable situations and then doesnt trek back to try and make up for his error and we end up conceding a goal! As for Sandro, I dont know anything about the guy but if the hype is to be believed, fantastic coup, especially if he gets picked for the Brazil Team for the World Cup and bursts onto the World scene with some outstanding games? Only concern is that reports state he will play a full season in Brazil until August (maybe even including the World Cup) and then he will come to Spurs and the PL and be expected to play another full season with us!! Anyone remember how a similar situation affected Pavlyuchenko's start to his Spurs career? He had just had a full season in Russia, and played in Euro 2008 and was one of the star players of the tournament! Then came to Spurs a bit burnt out and look how he has been treated by Redknapp this season until finally, recently getting his chance?! He has been fantastic, like a new signing! Hope Redknapp doesnt treat Sandro the same if the guy comes to us a bit tired! Sorry chaps but I would much rather that Redknapp sold Crouch before he goes anywhere near JJ! get rid of Crouch and maybe even Keane if we can keep Gudjohnsen with a permenant deal? Pav and Defoe and Gud on the bench should be enough, as long as they can stay fit, with maybe a young understudy as 4th option? Every other area is ok at the moment once the injured players are back.

Surely Tottenham should be looking to sign someone from Portsmouth as they have the rest of their first team squad already, If they get a work permit then someone has had their arms twisted as the Man City fan said they couldn't get one for the player they tried to sign.

re. Phillip Mcconnell You must be one of those arm chair fans if you think jenas should play for england .. he has played about 5 good games for spurs and runs around but cant tackle unlike huddlestone who cant run but is getting better .. Great signing and harry please dont keep robbie keane he has been really poor this yr and since back from liverpool does not seem to care about the fans who stuck by him and just wanders all over the pitch achieving nothing . whats happened to bostock ?

Jack Curtis (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...
I have to agree with everybody that said jenas is useless because he is. I can't stand it as a spurs fan when he plays. I find that we always are weak in the midfield when he is there. The amount of freekicks he used to take as well and i would always say before he stepped up that it was going one place and one place only which is over the bar. The only free kick i remember him getting on target was the one he took against manchester united which he scored. If we've got Sandro that is great but i still wouldnt let palacios go. That i feel is just paper talk anyway i mean Real Madrid are hardly likely to go in for him at the minute. I still feel we need to buy one more centre midfielder to fill the gap because we dont want to be in the same position as this year again with injuries piling up.

Funny how this has become about Jenas BUT any Spurs fan who actually watches us play will know JJ is not good enough, away at the dismal Wolves game we were chanting for Ghaly back to replace him that will tell you how disliked he is and as for Phillip Mcconnell's about JJ for England is just a joke, sell him to Jose!
