Argentine defender Santiago Garcia has completed his switch to Serie A outfit Palermo from Rosario Central.

The 22-year-old full-back has penned a five-year contract with his new Sicilian employers.

He moves to Italy for an undisclosed fee and will be looking to make an immediate impact.

Garcia has less then 20 senior appearances to his name but, having caught the eye during the outings he has made, he is highly regarded in his homeland and was expected to move to Europe sooner rather than later.

Dream

"I have joined a great team who had a great season last year to qualify for the Europa League, it is a dream for me," Garcia said.

"I prefer to play as a full-back, in the same position as (Federico) Balzaretti, but he is an important player so I will do my best to carve out my own place."

Meanwhile, Palermo have also confirmed that goalkeeper Giacomo Brichetto has joined the club from Serie B newcomers Novara.

The 27-year-old, who took in a spell on loan at Stadio Renzo Barbera last season, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
