Werder Bremen are set to fill the void vacated by Mesut Ozil by signing Brazilian midfielder Wesley from Santos.

The 23-year-old has agreed a four-year contract and he will now undergo a medical in Germany next week.

Werder were on the lookout for reinforcements following Ozil's departure to Real Madrid and they moved quickly to strike a deal with Santos.

Director of sport Klaus Allofs is delighted with Wesley's capture and believes the club have been rewarded in their pursuit of his signature.

Patience

"We have had to show a lot of patience and have now been rewarded for it," said Allofs.

"Wesley is a very versatile and dynamic player who can play in every position across the midfield."

Wesley is ineligible for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off against Sampdoria next Tuesday.

"It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play at a top club in a very strong league," he said to the club's official website.

"I am delighted that things have worked out now with Werder Bremen.

"I am looking forward to coming to this city and I want to join the team as soon as possible and make the fans happy."
