Didier Drogba is hoping a new manager will help shape Ivory Coast ahead of the World Cup finals.

The Elephants dispatched of the services of coach Vahid Halilhodzic over the weekend, despite the fact he guided them to South Africa.

Now Guus Hiddink is being strongly tipped to take charge for the duration of the finals before the Dutchman becomes Turkey coach.

"There are many stories around," Drogba told Sky Sports News when asked about Hiddink.

"I hope the manager we get will help us improve and help us play better than we are at the moment."

Drogba was speaking after Ivory Coast's 2-0 defeat to fellow World Cup finalists South Korea at Loftus Road.

"The result is not good, but it was very specifically for training," said the Chelsea star.

"There was no manager, and at least the players showed desire."

Defender Siaka Tiene added: "It was disappointing [the defeat].

"Now we wait for the new coach and hope to bounce back and achieve something good during our preparations."
