As expected, Graeme Hick is the winner of the 2007 Sky Sports Sixes League as both David Sales and Eoin Morgan were unable to make any impression on his lead in the Natwest Pro40 Play-off at Southgate.
Northants captain Sales played a lone hand for his team - clearing the boundary twice in his innings of 70 - to end the season in fifth place.
Middlesex's Morgan was unable to add to his season's tally of eighteen, but will be consoled by the fact that his Crusaders team will be playing in Division One next season.
Hick's team-mate Moeen Ali won the September award with a total of seven sixes, six of which he hit in his whirlwind 46-ball century against Northamptonshire.
A total of 1,254 sixes were hit in domestic one-day matches this season, down from 1,399 last year. However, this drop can probably be explained by the appalling weather which hit this year's Twenty20 Cup group matches, which normally see the largest number of sixes hit.
Two men hit as many as eight sixes in an innings this summer. Surrey's Ali Brown achieved the feat back in April against Gloucestershire in his innings of 176 at The Oval. This was equalled by eventual winner Graeme Hick in his innings of 110 in the Twenty20 Cup at Kidderminster against the hapless Northamptonshire bowlers.
In all, there were a total of twenty individual innings in which at least five sixes were hit.
The Sky Sports Sixes League, sponsored by the Daily Express, ranks the top ten batsmen that have hit the most sixes in Friends Provident, Twenty20 Cup and NatWest Pro40 matches.
It provides batsmen with another incentive for big-hitting with £2,000 and the sixes trophy for the winner, plus awards for each month's big hitter. This summer's monthly winners were David Hussey (May), Graeme Hick (June), Luke Wright (July), Phil Mustard (August) and Moeen Ali (September).
The league has become a hugely popular element of Sky's cricket coverage, with league table is featured on Sky's domestic cricket coverage, Cricket AM and on skysports.com/sixes. It is also published each Wednesday in the Daily Express.
