Fabregas: Did not disappoint
Exceptional, a pleasure to work with, dedicated, determined, a presence, he has authority and is dominating games.
Arsene Wenger on Cesc Fabregas
Quotes of the week
Skysports.com's James Dall gets a sneak preview of The Cesc Fabregas Show.
It felt like my first school trip. Slumped on a butterscotch-coloured seat - jagged springs digging at my backside - with my cardigan buttons fastened and a fluttering in my stomach, a blend of nerves and giddy excitement.
The train bucked to a start; my trip to London to meet Arsenal midfield general Cesc Fabregas had begun.
After flicking through my all-important questions, the locomotive finally chugged into King's Cross. But first stop, interviews with a Frenchman and a Swede.
Upon arrival to the slick offices, I prepared for my one-on-one interview with the charming former referee Anders Frisk followed by the second instalment - a conference call from Mr Patrick Vieira.
Time passed slowly. The pack of assembled scribes chortled in harmonious fashion, while one wildly threw his fingers down on his laptop as if an ostentatious pianist.
The interview finally took place, and all was well as Patrick was in talkative mood to provide us all with a range of decent angles for our forthcoming pieces.
Buoyed by the morning's events, I squeezed myself onto the tube. A businessman's head lulled up and down to my right as he did his best to resist the lures of a power-nap, while I could only think of the promise of an interview with one of my heroes: Nike's 'The Cesc Fabregas Show' awaited.
I strolled with intent before locating the television studios. I was forced to twiddle my thumbs by the door, though, as a doorman sneered at my polite request to gain entry to the venue. However after 20 minutes of ignorance, he finally saw my name was actually on the list, and in I went.
Backstage was dripped in showbiz and glamour - I felt out of place. Famous names came and went before the PR chaps confirmed I would be granted access to Arsene Wenger, Fabregas and Philippe Senderos.
I introduced myself to Senderos, who seemed a very pleasant man, before Arsene entered the room with an aura, heading straight to Cesc's family, greeting them fondly, and them vice versa.
Spanish-style canapés were then served before we were called to take our places in the studio - I did my best to be pulled into the growing buzz of excitement, but the promise of interviews after the show was still burning inside of my mind.
400 ticket holders were soon crammed into the venue, ushered into their suitable viewing places like a herd of cattle.
Then came the Spaniard's entrance, he trotted onto the stage with the audience shrieking gleefully at the first sight of their idol.
Cesc spoke to the presenters (Andy Goldstein and Rick Edwards), immediately I was hooked. He was charming, without a pinch of arrogance.
I could not help but be completely enveloped in his words, despite the laddish, booming yells of 'Tubes' - who stood to my left - from a number of the audience.
Cesc spoke of his focus, his drive to improve - it was inspiring stuff. After an insightful intro, a number of big-names (including Paul Merson, Michael Thomas, Chris Kamara and Nicklas Bendtner) trickled onto the stage in batches to make their cameos.
I was having a wonderful time, but a pang of concern kept resurfacing in my chest. The event was running later and later. The proposed end time of 9.30pm was looking highly improbable - the likelihood of interviews was fading.
But back to the show, and after Cesc had laughed heavily at the brilliant Paul Kaye and then tested his touch against a whizz-kid, it was time for Monsieur Wenger.
Of his deft midfielder, the professor said: "Exceptional, a pleasure to work with, dedicated, determined, a presence, he has authority and is dominating games." Compelling stuff.
The Frenchman then proceeded to give a rousing speech of Arsenal's title charge next season. He received a roar of approval as he exited the stage. Something told me he would not be sticking around now, though, and my interview with the Gunners boss was surely off.
The jam-packed show finally came to an end not long before 11.30pm. Cesc had wowed his fans, while his travelled family rose to their feet to signify their pride.
Cesc departed to his changing room, and I quickly introduced myself before he was smothered with kisses and hugs from his family and friends. I knew now was certainly no time to invade his privacy.
The PR guys explained that they had done all they could, but no interview or interviews would now take place due to the unexpected late finish of the show. I believed them, and understood.
That flickering feeling in my stomach had turned to emptiness - an unexplainable gap that I knew not how to fill. I entered the sticky tube, and felt low.
It had been such a fantastic evening, and access to the talent would have been the icing on the cake.
However, after much reflection, I realised my initial feelings of disappointment were misplaced for I had been treated to the intriguing viewing of The Cesc Fabregas Show. It offered a rare insight into the persona of a world-beater.
So, my advice for you: make time for 6.30pm and 9.30pm on Monday 19th May, tune into Sky Sports 1 - San Miguel and a dish of olives in hand - and enjoy the tale of a true Spanish gent.

I think Chris Lloyd was tripping when he posted, Anderson is not as good as Cesc. Anderson is good, but he is not as good as Cesc, and next season he will be found out(he will be found wanting). Cesc is better on the ball than Anderson and a lot better passer of the ball. Anderson is not Paul Scholes successor (it looks like AF will have to keep on looking).

How can you Say Anderson is a better player than FABREGAS. He is no where near as good. Don't get me wrong Anderson is a very good player but FABREGAS is a complete midfielder. You ask anyone in the world including Sir Alex who they would rather have in there team i guarantee FABREGAS would come out on top by a long way. You might have the best team in the league but you haven't got the best midfielder in the league. Oh and by the way, who was voted PFA Young Player of The Year Award. Oh yes it was FABREGAS. Didn't even see Andersons name in any of the nomintions !!!!!!!! Enough said.

In response to the comment below, Anderson 10 times better than Cesc? Come on mate! How many goals has Anderson scored this season? How many assists has Anderson got? How anyone can think Anderson is 10 times better than Cesc is beyond me. I completly disagree that he is too slow and i completly disagree that he cannot keep up with the modern game. He is one of the best midfielders in the world as he actually dictates the tempo and the play in most games. I just do not see Anderson dictating games in that way even if he has more tricks and more pace. Fabregas does not need to have bags of pace due to his ability to read the game and his natural footballing brain.

Chris Lloyd everyones entitled to there own opinion mate, but personally i find your comment hillarious. How anyone can even put fabregas in the same bracket as anderson is beyond me. Fabregas is immense, certainly one of the best young midfielders in the world, and i think anderson is just a tad short on that level. Don't get me wrong Anderson is of good quality starting well at United, but he's not in the same league as Fabregas let alone better. he's more along the lines of Nobby Solano of West Ham!

Anderson is ten times better than fabregas, he is too slow and cannot keep up with the pace of the modern game, he is not fit enough like anderson. Wenger is so indisciplined signing players at that age because arseanl cannot not afford proper talent like rooney, anderson and ronaldo. Fabregas has already reached his peak and how many awards has he won

Cesc is incredible to watch - He seems to glide effortlessly through the midfield and pick out the killer pass with ease. He reminds me of a young Paul Scholes........

Anderson should be humbled to even be put into the same bracket as Fabregas. Anderson is a decent player, bullish and determined, has fitted in well at Man Utd, but if your talking class and charisma on-and-off the field, Fabregas is top of the pile when it comes to young talent. Anderson is a dogfighter, a touch more powerful, but he's just trying to hard...total shadow of the calm that Fabregas shows when trying to dominate a game. Anderson should look at Scholes for an example but how dare you Josh Morton! Let's wait and see when Scholes packs it in and AF puts Anderson straight into the first team (if he can make it) we'll see if he can dominate games consistently. Then we might be able to compare. School boy.

Your article bought everything back from last Tuesday and my feelings matched yours! I would just like to say that it was nice to know that the press didn't get to speak to Cesc after the show. I was very disapointed having done my bit to get a ticket and queued outside the studios since 4pm to ensure that we were the first in and got a chance to meet him and the some of the team that due to late runnings I didn't get my chance to meet my idol. I will however always have the memory that I was there and can not wait to watch tonight.

Arsene Wenger is the most accomlished Manager in Football in being able to find Young Raw Talent and turn them into 'Legends' (such as Vieira, Anelka, Henry) and he has done it yet again with the young Francesc Fabregas, we are witnesisng True Football History in watching this rare, rare talent and should consider ourselves 'Blessed'. The like sof Rooney and Roanaldo will fade quickly - when the rest of footballdom realises they have already seen the best of these two players, and that they have already peaked and so can only continue along a 'plateau' for the next year or two before being seen for the what they are excellent players but NOT "Legends" - which is what Young Cesc is fast becoming - watch and admire and be awestruck - for we have yet to see the best from this 'Genius'. WE'VE GOT CESC FABREGAS! IN WENGER WE TRUST!

Fabregas is amazing!! I remember his first goal in the Premiership like it was yesterday, and I'm sure he does too :) What I can't understand, and someone please help me to, is why people KEEP saying Anderson (Man U) is far better than Cesc!?! Has Anderson played in the EPL since the age of 16? Has he even come close to doing what Cesc does for Arsenal? Is he such an important player for Man U? Why did Scholes start in the Champions League if he is sooooo good? And why are there rumours of United rather getting Ramsey as Scholes successor, if Anderson is SOOOOO GOOD??!! I rest my case - CESC IS THE BEST!

In a world full of hopeless madness for 90 minutes every other weekend we witness a remarkable young man, an insipiration, an enigma. For that brief spell, the world is beautiful and the masterful Mr Arsene Wenger a leader second to none. Humility and class have brought you here, do not stray from this path.

I love Arsenal. Their free flowing football is a delight to watch and the envy of other teams in the Premier League. Arsenal is not about individuals, but about a solid team culture epitomized by the great and wonderful creative play of Cesc Fabregas. The Professor Arsene Wenger is the greatest football manager on earth. Like he said, he doesn't go for big names, but big players. Try and decipher that opponents of Arsenal and discover what the professor means next season! Up Arsenal I will remain a Gunner for life.
