Chambers: Olympic bid
Dwain Chambers powered to victory in the UK Olympic trials in Birmingham, but it will be a High Court that decides whether he will go to the Olympics or not.
Chambers and his legal team will try and seek an injunction on the British Olympic Association's bylaw that prevents athletes guilty of drug offences from being selected for the GB Olympic team which would enable him to compete in the 100m in Beijing.
Chambers proved in Birmingham that he is still Britain's fastest 100m runner, and after completing his two-year ban and coming back to win the trials fair and square why should he be denied his spot in the Olympic team?
As the case rumbles on and now goes to the High Court it continues to drag British athletics through the mud and should the BOA just climb down from their moral stance and allow their best man to try and make amends by cleanly bringing home an Olympic medal?
Or are they right to continue to try and ban athletes who are found guilty of taking drugs for life from the Olympics, even though they are free to compete everywhere else once they have served their ban.

Drugs in sport should not be tollerated,we are the only nation in the world that bans a cheat for life. Other countries should follow us in banning cheats, then it will send out a clear message.

A life ban should be just that, he cheated and now he must pay the consquences. What kind of message would it send to other prospective cheats if his ban is overturned and Chambers goes to Beijing? Not going to deter them from taking performance enhancing drugs thats for sure.

He has served his punishment for what he's done and I'm sure he has learnt from his mistakes, he has obviously worked hard to get his career back on track and people should give him another chance, good luck to him!

He knew the rules when he took the drugs why should they now change to suit him. What sort of picture does it give to any up and coming person in any sport, take drugs, get to the top, make a load of money, get banned, then get ban over turned, make more money????? I dont think that's right do you?

I think Dwain should be able to run - he has had to qualify just like everyone else and even though he got the ban he did offer to help clean it up in our nation to get better runners for our country.

Ban for life, means Ban for life. He should be punished just like criminals are punished every day for wrong doing. Dwain should accept the fact that he made a mistake and should take the punishment like a real man. Stop taking up a spot in the GB team that could go to the likes of young talent like Pickering. Banning Dwain for Beijing is the best option for maximum success of the GB team. He creates a negative image around the team.

Simon Jarvis says...
Dwain had the courage to come clean about his drug taking. He even offered the authorities assistance in their bid to clean up athletics. He wins the Olympic trials and is the fastest UK sprinter this year. He has proved himself yet, so many so-called 'legends' of athletics dont want to give him another chance. Dwain should be allowed to compete, as the lifetime ban is not worldwide. Give Dwain a second chance!!

So he won the trial...hhmm, sorry but why do I feel like he's still on trial? Sadly, I just still feel uncomfortable every time I see this guy run and win. In a country where cheating still matters Dwain is finished here as an athlete that can hope for support from the UK fans - a cheat's a cheat, if he could have got away with it, he would have. Take up something new but give up the ghost bud, you had your chance but blew it, you're like Tyson on the comeback trail..all puffed out.

Dwain's done his time - he's still the best we've got at 100 metres and won the trials fair and square so he should go to the Olympics - simple.
