Lee: Heading for the Premier League
Bolton are close to agreeing a deal worth in excess of £2million for South Korea winger Lee Chung-yong, according to his agent.
The 20-year-old FC Seoul midfielder is thought to be a player of considerable promise in his homeland and has caught the eye of Trotters boss Gary Megson.
FC Seoul have confirmed they have received an offer from Bolton, although the K-League outfit have cooled any suggestions of an imminent deal for Lee, who has made 15 appearances for South Korea.
But Lee's agent Kim Sung-tae is confident a deal will be struck which would eclipse the record for a South Korean moving overseas, which was set in 2003 when Lee Chun-soo moved to Spain's Real Sociedad for $3.5million (£2.1million).
"We are still negotiating with Bolton so we can't talk about the transfer fee," said Kim.
"However, it will be the highest transfer fee for any Korea Republic player heading overseas."
Bolton are currently at a fitness training camp in Austria, although Megson's assistant Chris Evans has stayed in England and is believed to be helping with the final stages of deals as the club look to boost what was the smallest squad in the Premier League last season.
The Trotters have already signed West Brom defender Paul Robinson and midfielder Sean Davis on a free transfer from Portsmouth.
