Hearts have signed Hungarian goalkeeper Janos Balogh on a six-month loan deal from Debrecen.

The 25-year-old completed the formalities of the move over the weekend and has now joined up with his new team-mates.

Balogh has been brought in by manager Csaba Laszlo to provide competition to Marian Kello and Jamie MacDonald.

Valuable

"This is a player that we've been very keen to bring to the club," Laszlo told the club's official website.

"He will provide valuable competition with Marian and Jamie.

"Like Marian, Janos is young but has very good experience and he will be a good addition to our squad. I am happy to welcome him."

Challenge

Balogh is determined to make an impression in the SPL and hopes the move can help him fulfil his international ambitions.

"I am ready for the challenge," he said.

"All teams have three or four goalkeepers and every goalkeeper tries to be the best. I am ready for this challenge and it is normal.

"If I play for Hearts I have a chance to go back into the national team, but I have to be playing for the team.

"I hope I do a good job so I can maybe stay here for a longer time."
