Taylor: Attracting interest
Belgian outfit Royal Racing FC Montegnee have refused one "derisory" offer but are expecting to receive more for their star forward Paul Taylor in the next few weeks.
Taylor, who started his career at Manchester City, has been watched by a number of clubs across Europe following his summer move to Belgium.
After impressive early season form at Montegnee, local giants Standard Liege offered the forward a trial. He took his chance and impressed in two friendly games watched by director of football Dominique D'Onofrio and has been invited back to train with the first team.
Standard's league rivals Anderlecht, St Trond and Mechelen have all contacted Montegnee about the Liverpool-born player's availability, while a top Bundesliga club have twice watched games involving the player and are monitoring the situation closely.
This weekend's local derby against Tilluer St. Gilles is expected to have its attendance swelled by watching scouts from Belgium and it is believed that a few English clubs who were monitoring the forward last year are also renewing their interest in the player.
Taylor told skysports.com: "Belgium has been good for me, being with Racing (Montegnee) has helped me concentrate on football and I've improved a lot being here.
"I'm a better player than I was when my move to (Nottingham) Forest fell through last year, we'll just see what happens."
