Caicedo: Late miss

Colombia held Ecuador to a 0-0 draw in Quito to maintain their unbeaten record in the South American zone of World Cup 2010 qualification.

Ecuador could have been the first side to defeat Colombia in this year's qualification campaign as they enjoyed the better of proceedings.

Manchester City forward Felipe Caicedo could have won the game in the final minute at Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa, but he blazed over from the edge of the box.

Ecuador also went close in the first half when Colombia's Jose Amaya headed against his own crossbar, while Patricio Urrutia threatened with a free-kick.

Colombia's best chance fell to Juan Carlos Escobar after half-time, but he smashed wide from close range.

Ecuador now have five points, while Colombia have 10 from six games and sit within a win of leaders Paraguay.
