Tottenham have confirmed that winger Aaron Lennon will not return to training until next month.

Whilst Spurs are desperate to get the England man back in first-team contention, the news is a huge blow to national boss Steve McClaren.

Lennon is now unlikely to make the crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia in September.

"He will be back in training in three weeks, at the end of the month," said Spurs boss Martin Jol.

"He had no reaction and is doing conditioning work with the coaches.

"He had an operation on the outside cartilage of his knee, which is three months. He's been out for eight weeks so far."
