Capello: World Cup dream

Fabio Capello believes that a more continental approach to football will help England achieve World Cup glory.

The Italian has been charged with the task of guiding England to glory in South Africa in two years' time after taking over from the hapless Steve McClaren.

Former Real Madrid, Milan, Juventus and Roma boss Capello is eager to reward fans of the Three Lions with glory in 2010.

And he feels that leaving behind the more direct approach to football which is often associated with the English game can only be of benefit to the national side.

He told The Sun: "I've been struck by the absolutely unique relationship the fans have with England.

"Everybody is desperate for England to succeed.

"I really like the interesting things Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp said - that players need to play fewer long balls and learn better skills from the academy upwards.

"My goal now is to live the same joy as Marcello Lippi did for Italy by winning the World Cup for England."
