Hiddink: Healthy salary

Guus Hiddink's future as Russia coach has been cast into doubt over his contract demands.

The experienced tactician has been widely praised for the job he has done in booking Russia a place in this summer's European Championship, but it now appears his tenure could conclude after Austria and Switzerland.

Hiddink's contract is funded by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and is thought to be worth in the region of £2million per year.

The Dutchman's salary is paid by Abramovich via the national academy of football and their chairman, Segei Kapkov, is less than amused at the level of bonuses sought by Hiddink.

It has been reported Hiddink could net as much as £750,000 should Russia qualify for the World Cup, in a situation that Kapkov feels is unacceptable.

"He has demanded a million euros bonus if Russia qualify for the World Cup," Kapkov is quoted in the Daily Mail.

"Where is the logic in such a radical increase? We would also like Guus to spend more time in Russia, visiting the regions.

"We are seriously considering whether we should finance a new contract."
