Odonkor: Could make squad
Germany coach Joachim Low has named his provisional 26-man squad for Euro 2008 which will be cut to 23 by May 28.
With the influential midfielder Bernd Schneider ruled out after a back operation, Low has brought in Real Betis' David Odonkor - who was a surprise inclusion by Jurgen Klinsmann during World Cup 2006.
Low has also called on livewire goalkeeper Jens Lehmann and strikers Oliver Neuville and Patrick Helmes to contend for the final 23.
The 26-man squad for the finals in Austria and Switzerland is:
Goalkeepers: Jens Lehmann (Arsenal), Robert Enke (Hanover), Rene Adler (Bayer Leverkusen)
Defenders: Christoph Metzelder (Real Madrid), Per Mertesacker (Weder Bremen), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich), Arne Friedrich (Hertha Berlin), Marcell Jansen (Bayern Munich), Clemens Fritze (Werder Bremen), Heiko Westermann (Schalke 04).
Midfielders: Michael Ballack (Chelsea), Thomas Hitzlsperger (VfB Stuttgart), Simon Rolfes (Bayer Leverkusen), Torsten Frings (Werder Bremen), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich), Piotr Trochowski (Hamburg SV), Tim Borowski (Werder Bremen), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), David Odonkor (Real Betis), Marko Marin (Borussia Moenchengladbach).
