Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is convinced that David Healy will remain focused even though uncertainty surrounds his Fulham future.

The arrivals of Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora at Craven Cottage have fuelled speculation that Healy may be set to move on.

Healy is nevertheless assured of his place in the Northern Ireland team and has been selected in a 20-man squad for next week's friendly against Scotland.

Worthington is not too worried about his situation at Fulham but has backed the striker to take any chance that may come along.

"It is always good to be playing but we will have to see what happens at Fulham with David now they have signed more strikers," said the former Norwich boss.

"However, knowing David like I do, he will get his head down. He will carry with his work in training and if he gets a chance show what he can do in games."

Lafferty praise

Kyle Lafferty is likely to start up front alongside Healy and Worthington was delighted to see the Rangers new boy turn in a good performance against Falkirk on Saturday.

He said: "Kyle has moved to a massive club in Rangers and got a full 90 minutes in at the weekend.

"He had a bit of a hand in the goal as well that got them three points. That can only be good for him."

Shiels support

Worthington is also looking forward to assessing Dean Shiels after selecting the Hibernian midfielder for the first time.

"I have brought young Dean in so we can have a good close look at him," said Worthington.

"I hope he will enjoy it and show what he can do, then go from there. He has age on his side."
